A theory of an important part of how the brain works, drawing mainly from Lisa Feldman Barrett and Andy Clark, then extended with my own speculations.

I feel I should provide a Disclaimer.
We have Malleable Brains. They are "designed" to learn, but not in an open-ended way. Our "wiring" shapes how and what we learn.
Learning consists of the creation of Self-Reinforcing Networks. I'll refer to such networks as being Activated or Quiescent. Thinking is done by activated networks. Quiescent networks wait to be needed.
Networks Are Summaries of Experience. A baby's networks for controlling movement are created by the process of flinging its limbs about and seeing what happens. Gradually, the child learns how to reach out and grab things.
{{TODO: Concepts Are Networks}}. That is, each concept has one (or more) networks that do the work of a concept.
